Hurricane Food Guidelines


Our Hurricane Food Checklist (English), Lista de Alimentos para Huricanos (Espanol) can help Hillsborough County residents make sure that a family (of up to four) has enough healthy food for three days in the event of a hurricane.

Included on the checklist are suggestions on the types of foods to store, the types of containers to use, and other materials that might be needed if the power goes out.

If the power does go out, the checklist also explains:

  • How to determine what foods are safe, and for how long
  • What foods can be safely kept
  • Which foods can be cooked
  • Which foods must be discarded
